Can you play a game in 5 minutes?

One of the things that can make getting a game session in difficult is time. You get caught up in life, work family or whatever you may have going on that needs your attention so this beautiful escape goes by the way side. Until now… or a couple of years ago… You don’t have to live a life without games is what I’m saying. We have the folks at Spin Master and creator Connor Reid to thank for that.

I had my first experience with this beautifully frustrating game about two years ago, a few months after the game had hit shelves. A co-worker and myself received a demo copy, which we quickly cracked open and downloaded the timer app, then got to playing. The first dungeon managed to fight us off a couple of times, but we figured the game out and started to get into our groove. We flew through the next two dungeons before any real problems presented themselves, then we had an opening hand defeat. Yeah, the game managed to lay an ass whoppin’ on us with the first 5 cards we had drawn…

Now, this is not a how to play. There are a ton of videos and articles on how to do that, so we won’t go there today. What I will say is this is a well designed game and when coupled with the timer app that talks smack and plays mood music, it is a damn good time. One of the things that I think makes a game good, is the ability of non-gamers to be able to play and enjoy the experience. This game does does a great job checking that box.

Wrapping things up: Can you play this game in it’s entirety in 5 minutes? No. Can you play through a portion of it in 5 minutes? YES! Can anyone pick it up and play? Yes. If you couldn’t live without the superhero flair in your life, 5 Minute Marvel (Get that money Disney) is basically the same thing and a great option. Thanks, for hanging out.
